New edition of the "Via Francigena and the European Cultural Routes” magazine

On Saturday 1st December at the Castle and Civic Museum of Susa, the new issue of the EAVF magazine "Via Francigena and the European Cultural Routes" was presented.

The cover of the six-monthly magazine, dedicated to the Sacra di San Michele, announced the contents of the new free issue, published by Studio Guidotti. The 46th edition of the magazine contains two articles dedicated to Piedmont and Valle di Susa with an in-depth analysis of the Francigena route in the area and the cycle route project.

Planning in the Valle di Susa was the focus of the presentation meeting which saw the attendance of: Massimo Tedeschi, president of the European Association of Via Francigena Ways (EAVF) and Sami Tawfik, EAVF project manager; Antonella Parigi, Councillor of Tourism for the region of Piedmont; Sandro Plano, president of Montana Valle di Susa and mayor of Susa, Emanuela Sarti, Councillor of Tourism for the Montana Valle Susa and mayor of Condove; Daniele Valle, advisor of the region of Piedmont and Eleonora Girodo, Mountain Union of Valle di Susa.

Piedmont is a strategic region for the development of the Via Francigena, from a geographical, touristic and cultural point of view. The region is also a central aspect of UNESCO and the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. The Sacra di San Michele has become part of the eight monumental complexes included in the UNESCO World Heritage List under the label of "The Cultural Landscape of Benedictine Settlements of Medieval Italy".

From Italy to Europe: the presentation of the specials represented the international dimension of the magazine. The meeting was an opportunity to compare good Francigena practices on a European level, told also through the articles published in the magazine. The two editorials, signed by Natacha Bouchart, mayor of Calais, and Yves Krattinger, President of the Department of Haute-Saône, confirm the European greatness of the cultural route and the institutional commitment for its development. Teamwork without borders is also with Italy, with the important conference organised at the Abbazia di Spineto in Tuscany for a discussion on integrated political strategy dedicated to the paths.

A road implemented on several fronts also by the EAVF. The European association of Via Francigena Ways heads towards the end of 2018 with two important partnerships: the agreement with the Fédération Française de la Randonnée Pédestre and support for the development of the territory by Banca Generali Private.
